Minn kota ipilot, is it worth it?

Looking to upgrade trolling motor. Anyone have the ipilot with link. The spot lock seems like a great option but that unit is pretty pricey. Are there other things that are needed to be purchased with it? I have a 45edge now and it works, but it is time for an upgrade. I would also need to upgrade the batteries. Thanks for any input.

I recently purchased a 24 volt Motor Guide XI5 with Spot lock and all the bells and whistles. Very happy with the technology. spot lock is amazing.

I pilot link requires a network compatible humminbird sonar unit Ethernet cables and a lakemaster card. Only to be able to follow a contour. $$$$ for something that can be accomplished by recording a track.

I have been looking to upgrade too but the motors are sold out everywhere and are not shipping the heading sensor or the full function remote.

Fishing buddies have ipilot units and spotlock is awesome in open water and for trolling. If u like to fish around docks and shallow structure they can be a handful and require alot of work using the remote. and detract from fishing.

Thank you Squatch,
i did see that most units are backordered and no inventory. the additional pieces to make it work gets the package up in price. I did not think about the perimeter of the lake fishing issue. I do have hummingbird FF, but it is only the 5 model, I don't think that model is compatible.

You don’t have to just use the remote . My Ulterra also has normal foot pedal operation

But I will need to upgrade my fish finder, so that will add to my cost. It’s getting pricy. Thanks for the thoughts/opinions. It seems awesome, but $$$$.

If interested, I have a Minn Kota Power Drive I Pilot unit with 60 inch shaft, 24 volt, and 70 # Thrust. It came on a boat I recently purchased. Everything seems to work fine. $600
