Decided to take a few hours off for “mental health” this morning. Plan was to go to one of my ‘go to’ spots for early season bluefish & fluke. Arrived to find one other there who said it was very quiet. Started off plugging for bluefish. After 30 minutes and not even a touch, I switched to fluke with the same results. Made the decision to try another spot that I did well at last year but hadn’t heard much from this year. Walking in and talking to a few guys they said a few fish were caught-couple of bluefish and 4-5 fluke (all over 18”s). Spent @ 2 hours here, 2 bites-dropped the first one & broke off the other-what looked to be a 20” class fluke- trying to flip it ‘up & over’ (I usually bring a net to this spot for just that reason) .

Lesson learned.

Went with a friend today. Had 4 nice fish in the box by 9:30. Conditions died and found a few more but they went back. The party boats knocked us off our drift a few times so we left the crowd. Thats fishin RB style.
