Re: If True I Want NY Regs....
We got sold out here in NJ
. Just wait till the big commercial boats start mopping them up tomorrow . 5000 pounds a boat a week . They already know where the main body of fish is east of RB. . . |

Someone once told me, 'If there's grass on the infield, play ball.'

Re: If True I Want NY Regs....
The NY regs were approved . 4 fish@18.5. NJ has the slot. 2 fish@17"-17.99" and one 18" and over. I fish Raritan bay in the Spring for fluke and dock the boat in NJ. In past years, it was easy, I would just comply with NY size and NJ keeper limit. For instance, last year, NY was 4 fish at 19". NJ was 3 fish at 18". When fishing Raritan Bay, I would make sure to keep only 3 fish per man and they had to be 19". This year, for those of us that are fishing Raritan Bay, this will be a lot more of a hassle. Many times, we'll start our drift in NY waters and finish in NJ waters (or vice versa). So if I'm by myself and start the drift in NY and catch a 19" fluke, I'm good. If I do that drift again and catch a 17.5" and another 19", I'm illegal in both states. Illegal in NY because I have one short. Illegal in NJ because I have two over 18" and I'm only allowed one. I know the answer is to watch the plotter and know what state you're in, but that limits what you can actually keep. Why can't NJ and NY get their act together and have the same regs? Frustrating. If not for the entirety of each state, at least do it for the NY Bight/Raritan Bay area.
Thanks to the Marine Fisheries Council. I found this on another site. |
Re: If True I Want NY Regs....
Does anyone have an online link that shows the line? I know it’s on both my plotters but won’t be at boat til Sunday. Just looking to plot it on a chart I have in front of me.

Re: If True I Want NY Regs....
Its just god awful regulatory methods, making such a cluster in shared NJ/NY waters...
