Swartswood contest, week 1, tough bite. 2/6
 

Set up in a different area with the boy for Sundays contest. These contests happen every Sunday in the Swartswoods for those who don’t know. I found a nice flat with a beautiful weed line leading to deeper water. Never again! Although flags were flying a couldn’t find a thing on the jig. The fish I did find on the jig hit in 22 feet of water and while reeling him up he took a run into an underwater tree. Had to be a good LM or Smallie but now we’ll never know. Chase and I drilled about 120 holes on Sunday to come up with sun standard Pickerel and some really nice Perch on the tip-ups. Fun contest for sure but man I stabbed myself in the back. Should’ve sticker with the area that has worked for me for years. Pickerel Pete was out there in the same area. He had a solid 24 inch Slime Dart. Wonder if he got into the money with that fish. Back to back contests his coming weekend. Let’s see what happens!!! FLAGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!:D

Chase is super competitive. He was not happy with the size of the fish on this trip. I must do better next time. LOLOLOLOL!!!!

no worries you guys should do better next week go back to the spot were you do well do not leave fish to find fish . at least you beat the skunk.:cool:

Slime darts are definitely good for beating the skunk. Cool that you got your boy into it! Flags fying is a great thing! Better luck with the jig next weekend.

Yes it was a tough bite and good to see you out there. My pickerel, 25" 3.66lbs., was not enough for the money. Going to try again this weekend. A fun time on the ice.

what beat you? that's a pretty light slimer for that length, but still surprised it didn't take money.

something is up with that lake... fishing this year there has been way lower quality than recent past years...
