Re: Pairing a rod
Trevala or Teramar rods by Shimano are logical choices. Check what you prefer for the length of the foregrip. Some rods have split grips and some have solid piece fore and butt grips. You decide. The 4000, when paired with one of the 7' mentioned rods, can handle a variety of uses and be used for a variety of species. The rods I mentioned are powerful rods that are most often used for saltwater fish like fluke, striped bass, and bluefish in our area. The 6'6" models might be better for casting from a private boat where free-board is not an issue. If you want cork grips, you have to look more at the freshwater models but be careful of the smaller foregrips on some of the models and need the longer foregrips for lifting the rod with both hands.
