Re: Unconfirmed Report, Tuna at Manasquan Mile Buoy
On Friday morning, about 3/4 of a mile off the beach, inside the mile marker bouy, I saw a commotion on the surface about 30 yards in front. Saw bunker jumping out of the water, and got concerned that a whale would breach Suddenly a yellowfin tuna cleared the surface and snapper blues, and bunker scattered in the air The YFT measured about 24 " from dorsal to tail fin. I also saw what I thought was a smaller bluefin tuna but it was only partly out of the water, Game on, we threw plus, but the pack was moving so fast they quickly headed north.
This was a first for me to see pelagics so close to the beach, but when we had our weigh in for the kids tournament yesterday, I heard of spanish mackeral, and other warm water fish caught in shore. Water was 74 degrees there. Catch 'em up,,,,,,,,,,,,Papa |
