ice fishing before and after the snow
Hit up some salmon a few days before the snow, with the njf crew, nabbing some decent sized silver bullets on homemade jaw jackers... jigging was slow, to say the least.
after the snowpocalypse some places were just so sloppy, it was annoying to walk around far.... some places got partially ruined. we hit up our early season first ice spots that were not as sloppy and partially hardened snow on top of 7" of black ice. unfortunately we were welcomed with a slimedart festival and no big ones. we waited it out til the crappie came through at dusk and intercepted them a bit and even had a saucer sized bluegill join the party. I used squatch's headlight to charge my glow jig right before nabbing another skillful angler gill.... just thought i'd throw that in there :D https://s3.amazonaws.com/photos.fish...0b9c6136ae_800 https://s3.amazonaws.com/photos.fish...0b9c8e30f5_800 https://s3.amazonaws.com/photos.fish...0bf0fd2469_800 https://s3.amazonaws.com/photos.fish...0b9cb99b94_800 |
Re: ice fishing before and after the snow
Cool report chris the ice was a little sloppy for a while there but it quickly froze up so that you could walk on it without dropping through into a wet mess. I to am into the slime darts now unfortunately hope that changes with a different presentation method:rolleyes: as for the sunnies it seems to be the year of the sunnies as there seems to be no shortage of them any where i fish but that one you have there is a big one indeed. I have found some crappies but it seems that i need to fish at or after dark to get good numbers.
