Slowwww Ice fishing weekend! 1/30-31
 

Fished a Salmon lake Saturday. Hooked a big Bow on a medium shiner instantly. Crazy fish ran pretty hard. Had em’ to the hole twice and couldn’t get a grab on her. She was that fat! Finally decided to rip her through the hole but ripped a little too hard and she popped off. Would’ve been the catch of the day as it was over 20 inches easily and looked like a football. Got another flag in the same hole a short time later. Unfortunately it was a little Pickeral. The slow fishing kicked in and the jigging absolutely sucked. Lifeless! At the end of the day I got a flag and had a nice 16 inch LL at the hole but that one popped off too! Da FUQ? I was using circle hooks for the first time and I have to say they suckkkkkk! Ripped em off the tip ups as soon as I got home, LOL! Garbage!

Fished again today, got out bright and early. Flags weren’t popping and nobody was getting anything at this venue. There was 4 flags all day and I got one of them. I didn’t catch the target species but did pull a nice 8 lb. Channel Cat through an ice hole. Poor guy was on the skinny side for 28 inches, hopefully she eats a bit more. Strange and relaxing weekend on the Hardwater for sure. TIGHT LINEZ GUYS!!!:D

Been using circle hooks on all my tip ups for years, never looked back.... NOT for salmon or trout tough! Make some cheap and easy home depot jaw jackers!

Cool report eddie that kitty does look a bit skinny for its size did not know they had channels in there. by the look of that sonar photo you were not in a good spot but the sausages probably made it a little better:rolleyes: as for the big bow popping off they get all twisted up when they get close to the hole and all it takes to get them unbuttoned is them hitting the edge of the hole no matter what hook your using that happend to me at little swartswood had stocker rainbows on and they popped off at the hole not once but twice in one day:mad: you well get em next time. p.s it might be the hat that they do not like.
