The Mitchell river 12/6/20:

Took the 3 hour drive out to the Mitchell river in Dobson North Carolina. In Pennsylvania we refer to these as "creeks " or "criks" Really pretty area. I guess being a Sunday morning with temps in the 50's drew out the crowds, wand wavers were pounding fly line in just about every hole. Not sure how you can stand in gin clear 12 inch deep water and pound fly line on the water and expect to catch fish ??? I did manage 2 small browns and had lots of follows.
D.H. is a big thing here- Delayed Harvest. I don't keep anything so I really don't keep up on the regulations. There are 7 types of regulations on trout streams here, yes 7 !! Spent the night in Charlotte at a friends house after fishing.

if you're not sure then you'll never understand. :) Wand wavers, you don't know the power of the dark side.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to attend the CJST clean ups, maybe this summer I can get up there and do a clean up. I find Wastebook a great place to discuss politics and religion with family members and close friends. I also find it a great website to discuss facemask wearing with complete strangers.

As far as the term "Wand Waver" I use that phrase to depict a person who hasn't a clue when it comes to fly fishing and never took the time to learn about it either. To stand in shin deep gin clear water and pound weed whacker line on it and expect to catch anything is beyond be.
