Blackfish question?

I'm going out this Friday on my boat for blackfish. I most likely will be going down to the SBR area or possibly the MB. Can anyone please share with me around what depth these fish are being caught at or does it even matter? I have plenty of #'s so I can take it from there. Thanks in advance.

I'd be fishing general areas of 45 - 50 and setting up on specific pieces in those areas with some high hard structure, enough to make your depth finder jump up at least 5 to 10 feet... Once you set up on that you can fish shallower parts and of it and if that doesn't work out, you can always let line out to fall off deeper to see if that works.

Good luck and make sure to take the time to anchor on a piece where you specifically want to be... It might take 2 or 3 shots to get yourself to eventually lay where you want to be but it's worth putting the time in. This is where the people who really know how to anchor can make a huge difference.

Thanks Gerry. You are right about the importance of getting right on the spot you want. I like to use a marker buoy. Off by 10 feet can make a big difference. I also like to chum with the crab legs that seems to get them chewing! I'm looking forward to Friday! Tight lines all!

Yeah Dets... Funny when you get to a spot and you think it's dead.. Get some bait in the water and start to build some life and you slowly start getting bites.... Then of a sudden they go into a frenzy and every bait you put down gets SLAMMED immediately and you could fish legs and still get bit.

And then the kicker.....Something changes. Could be the wind, the current or the tide going slack and all of a sudden it's dead like someone turned off light switch.

That's fishing, especially for Toggers :D:(
