Sunday Funday on ICE!!!
 

Got on the ice today in NNJ. Ice I was standing on was 4 inches with some sketchy spots to navigate around. Not sure what Ice others have been walking on but what I do know is.......
1- Never venture out alone
2- Tell someone where your going
3- Ice picks are a must
4- You need a spud bar to check the ice. This helps figuring out ice strength.
5- Have a throw rope in your sled
If your venturing out on the ice because you think it’s cool to take a selfie or something, hey, how about asking the ice fishermen how thick the ice is before something tragic happens? Pretty good idea instead of assuming the ice is safe. We’ll gladly tell you the truth in most cases because we really don’t enjoy pulling innocent Bi-standards out of freezing water. Kinda ruins the mood!

Anyway! Had a good mixed bag with Mikey, Chrisper and Squatch today. Bite wasn’t super aggressive but I probably wound up with 25-30 assorted fish in total. Pickerel, Perch, Gills and a lone LM came through the icy holes. Action was 50/50 with jigs and tip-ups. Overall it was a good day. Can’t be too picky right now as our options are slim! Seeing those flags go up was friggin’ awesome! Makes me fell all warm and fuzzy inside. LOL! TIGHT LINEZ!!! FLAGGGGG!!!!!
BE SAFE GUYS! Never assume the ice is safe just because you see someone on it!:D

So happy to get back out on the ice. Really surprised how well it held up with the rain. FLAAAAGGG!

nice bunch of perch and that bass is nice as well hope we get some more time out on the ice in feb looks like the slime darts are moving in the shallow areas i will have to do my best to avoid those things but eventually i will have to deal with them cool report.

i couldn't believe the ice was still good, i had to go see it with my own eyes! may as well do some fishing while i'm at it! the furious bluegill bite was quite amusing!
