windy no ice day on the cong
 

Well i am going OUT OF MY FRICKEN MIND. this is what i was talking about in one of my other posts.. We do not need a up and down temp winter, not good for ice making. So with this crappy weather i took my canoe out on the cong today and was greeted by white caps and blowing wind not to good for a canoe. I had to fight my way out and found a spot that was not to bad, turned the vexilar on and found some fish in 7 ft with sporadic weeds growing,then put down a 13 fishing mini rattling rap in perch pattern and got some perch to play nice. I got 7 perch smallest was 6" and the biggest was 10 and a half inches with a big egg belly. all fish were set free. The wind calmed down around 3:45 and i was off the lake by 5:25pm. i got to the lake around 10:15 am and had to wait till the wind let up some to be able to get out. the wind just blew me backwards on my first attempt so i waited a bit and paddled like hell and made it to the spot i wanted to fish.I marked fish but they spooked when i put down my offering had to fish it above the weeds very slow to get them to play. I know seems like a lot of work just to get 7 perch but as i said I AM GOING OUT OF MY MIND WITH NO ICE ON THE LAKES.

Lmao!! I know how ya feel brother. Hard to make solid plans too with the in between temps. Makes it easier to go nuts when we work for each fish, landed or not. I'll take 7 perch over 1 skunk any day though! Way to get em' Badger!!

I don’t know if the ice is ever going to arrive Badger. This is crazy. Haha! At least you got out and wet a line man!

The fish that don't get caught in January through the ice will be waiting for you in open water in April/May...

Hah STAY CALM, and FISH ON! Badger!!!! Really this is getting outta hand the trout need a rest and we need some ice already

Hope some real ice comes this season. I can try it once...
Then back to phenomenal trout fishing. :cool:

I hope you are right but if that warm air that is coming from down south does not stop we will not able to grow ice and jigging out of the canoe is not the same as staying still on the ice. Maybe it is time for the ice dance:rolleyes:
