Is it hit or miss on spots along a river. The Rockaway per say. I've tried 3 years at my usual spots and no signs of life. How does one know what stretch of the river gets the stocked trout?

Yea also it looks like this year they are not putting #-of-trout on the map. See from 2018:

Correct, but the complete list of waters, dates and numbers are on the same page as the map, here... https://www.njfishandwildlife.com/flstk19.htm

The numbers don't change very much from year to year.

Compared to the spring stocking quotas, which are very substantial, the fall stocking quotas are far less. Therefore, the number of stocking points is also fewer than the number of spots that are stocked in the spring. Almost every bridge gets fish but unless there are enough volunteers to help, don't go too far from those spots. I've tried some of my favorite spring spots right after the fall stocking and came up empty. The trout eventually spread out but with low water conditions, that may take awhile. I know some spots on the Big Flatbrook where the water is deep with submerged limbs and tangles. Last fall there were schools of trout on each one.

There was a day in the fall that I fished on the Musky at a favorite spot ( in fact, two spots). I fished for awhile without so much as a bite or follow. Another fisherman and two of his friends had the same results. The second go-to spot had about five guys in the water. After watching and then talking to them, none of them had anything except for a few chubs, bluegills and small mouths. They had fished there for 90 minutes and it was almost 4:00 P.M. Did the spots get stocked? Not according to what I heard and saw.

Keep your options open; get some Intel; or, follow the truck.

@Bill i think the program would benefit from having updated signs wherever they stock. Maybe just place a sticker or something on the existing stocking signs before driving the truck off to the next spot.

Would make it simple for anglers to determine if a spot was stocked or not. Currently the only way is to check for tire marks on the ground or just fish it and see for yourself.

Or they could continue what they do and just let us have fun with the hunt :D
