6/1 Report....
 

Afternoon trip today since family stuff got us hung up in the am. Shoved off at 1300 with a complete opposite of last weeks bait dragging. No bait just BT’s and gulp.

Hit the flats... Belford to the Triangle and picked. All shorts. Lotta cookie cutters 15-16”. 1oz white spros with a gulp swimming mullet.

Breeze kicked up SE so moved E to hide. Wind died down and so did boat traffic. Game on!!!! Blind casting to no surface action and no marks but the big boys came to play! Demons, not bass, but I’ve found a new respect for these guys.

Played catch and release for 2 hours with no one else around. All on light fluke jigging rods. Wish I had vid of the hits!! Tarpon like!!!

Kept 1 for the smoker and the rest released swimming strong.

Surface temps still 70 dropping to 67 on the incoming. Water still murky from rain runoff.

Nice. Did same area on Sunday dragging bait for fluke before the winds and weather went insane. Blues beating up a surface bunker here and there.

They might as well make the fluke limit a dozen fish at 18 inches just to make us feel good. You're lucky to get one. :(

Nope. Bring it in to a guy at work who smokes em up and brings it in for the guys in the shop. Not a fan of blues at all but the smoked version is pretty damn good!

He uses and electric Char Broil.
