Escaped NJ for some serious walleye action
1 Attachment(s)
Took my annual trip to Lake Erie out of Port Clinton, Ohio to put some walleye in the freezer. In case you all don't follow, this is the first of 3 years that are supposed to be fantastic fishing up there. Well, it did not disappoint. 4 fisherman in our group managed a full limit in about 2 hours of trolling and casting, not to mention a few bonus yellow perch.

Damn limits in 2 hours, EPIC !!! Any SMB in the area for after you limit out ??

Re: Escaped NJ for some serious walleye action
No SMB that day. The guy I fish with wasn’t set up for it and is primarily a walleye guy. Several perch, some catfish, and Sheephead kept it interesting though.

Great fishing outta the walleye capital of the world. How big did they run?

Re: Escaped NJ for some serious walleye action
Nothing huge, which is fine, the 16 inchers eat the best in my opinion. Largest was maybe 22-23.

now that how you get it done looks like you all had fun and fish for the table nice:cool:trolling bait or lures ? i like trolling worm spinner rigs.

Re: Escaped NJ for some serious walleye action
We started out trolling spoons which got us most of the numbers and then switched over to casting and drifting Lindy rigs to finish up.

PDog. You are correct, the 14 to 19 inch walleye size is the best eating! Did a trip up to far west Ontario last year and that's what we caught and ate every day.Thnothing huge but numbers like over 250 fish for 4 days of fishing per man!
