5/27 Report....
1 Attachment(s)
Fluked Raritan and Sandy Hook bays hitting all the usual shallow water spots.
Dragged bait all day and didn’t touch the jigs or gulp. Stopped counting at 30 shorts from 14-16”. Only managed a lone keeper @ 19 and the first sea robins of the early season. Best action in 20-25 fow. Surface temps peaking at 70 late in the day. Old school squid killie combo out caught spearing and bunker strips. Lotta life spread out from Belford to Keyport. Acres of bunker blues and spotted multiple whales. Caught this short with some “road rash”....draggers net maybe? |
Re: 5/27 Report....
Hook'em Dano, glad to see you out & about. Are you at Monmouth Cove now? Bottom temps need to get closer to surface temps, hopefully this week. GO BRUINS

Re: 5/27 Report....
Good report, thanks. Good to know they're chewing close to home, I'm taking some young 'uns out next weekend and will need to bend some poles.

Re: 5/27 Report....
Nice going Dan. I’ve experienced better fishing using just killies the past 2 years early in the year (say until the end of June) then fishing a bucktail/GULP combo-especially in the bay/rivers. Last June 20 (I know the date because it was 2 days before my daughter’s wedding), I was fishing on the Misty Morn and caught a triple limit (ORL) of keeper fluke out of the 30+ I caught-all on killies. Nobody else had more than two keepers fishing spearing and/or bucktail-GULP.

Does look like road rash from a dragger, good call.
