My uncle used to have a house up there, beautiful area. I remember a day fishing points with him, we caught bass of all kinds all day long.

Buddy of mine use to live right there. I know they would liveline herring in the evenings and did pretty well on the stripers. Also turned around a few times to see his rod was no longer in the rod holder!

There used to be a pretty good bait shop right on rt 6 across from the lake. The guys were real helpful though we were there to fish the lackawaxen river. They used to laugh and tell us the big browns came from the lake, had pictures to prove it. Lots of live bait too and in big sizes for big fish.

You once told me that "the only thing that pulls out in Philly is the couch"
I recommend some skins!

Its a good size lake, with some big fish, but its also heavily populated with houses, marinas, development.. Several dozen run down lake front communities , full of trailers, camps, cottages,etc.. The lake is pounded relentlessly, and during mid summer the boaters and jet skiers make it impossible to fish much of the lake.. I think its worse than greenwood or hopatcong by a good margin .. The locals fish for stripers at night, and catch them, but they aren't everywhere, and you need to put the time in,,, Spring and fall, before and after the crowds of tourists is certainly the best fishing time, like any tourist lake..

years ago it was a very productive lake, and still has some very nice fish, but today its a much tougher lake because of the pressure, these days there are several tournaments each year that don't help matters.. the locals know when and where of course but don't talk too much.. tackle shop on rt 6 might help... If you are going in early June before school gets out, and you fish during the week, you should be ok. the huge numbers of overpowered boats with lunatics at the helm is more a mid summer 'vacation" thing.

If I were going that time of year, I would hit the rocky points, downed trees, weed edges near rocky bottom for SMB.. They will still be on the beds and they outnumber LMB by a big margin on this lake... They are very aggressive at that time, and small jigs should interest them as well as Perch.. Walleyes and Stripers are tough unless you fish at night. Lots of the locals troll deep and slow with downriggers.
