Reel ideas
How is everyone ? Currently looking for a reel that I can use for fluke and sea bass. I have a budget of 150 up to 200

Re: Reel ideas
Conventional or spinning reel?
If conventional AvetSX ($199) or SXJ ($179) SXJ is smaller and cheaper and should be plenty for Fluke and Sea Bass.. |
Re: Reel ideas
Penn Fathom 12-15 at the top of your budget , however well worth the money !

Re: Reel ideas
Quantum Monster PT 300! Its MRSP is right at $150!
Other option is the Quantum Accurist $100 or Energy $120 and you could even power handle each of the above for under $50 and really turn these reels into beasts! My personal Jersey goto is the Quantum Energy PT Power handled. Only the Accurist and the Energy have the flipping switch which is most ideal for one handed bucktailing! And yes has plenty of torque for both fluke seabass porgies and even ling! Oh and it weights only 8oz! :D |
Re: Reel ideas
I really like the Daiwa Lexa 400. It's very light and small. Holds plenty of braid for inshore bottom fishing. I also really like the levelwind for bottom fishing.

Re: Reel ideas
Agree with every word on the Lexa.

Re: Reel ideas
Little more money, but the Abu Garcia Revo Beast Low profile 40 puts the others to shame.
Smaller in size, deep cut spool that holds a ton of line. And a reel that can handle the punishment of 30 pounds of drag. In a round reel its tough to beat the Fathom 12 in that size group. |
Re: Reel ideas
Like lexa 300 and curado 301 right handed but like lefty conventional reels
