NJ Fish and Game Council Meeting 1/8/19:

6 Attachment(s)
Had the day off so attended the F&G Council meeting with The1. Always a ton of info to digest. The hand outs alone have a ton of information on them !
I haven't caught a fish in 2019 yet but I did purchase over $150.00 in freshwater licenses, ordered $100.00 worth of jigs on line, got new line and other items at The Sporting Life on Rt. 22 and attended a F&G meeting so I think I am doing pretty well so far.
The meeting was held at the older building on the Assunpink WMA, the new building was getting an addition. The meeting was 2 part and we didn't stick around after lunch for the public comment section of the meeting. Remember all these Council members are volunteers !
I hope in 2019 if you have NEVER attended a Federation meeting, or a Council meeting or even a local Watershed or Trout Unlimited meeting make 2019 the year to do so. All I ask is you go to just one meeting. One year I want to the Fisheries meeting at the Hackettstown and only 30 people showed up, that's a disgrace. The North Jersey Fisheries meeting will be held on January 19 and I hope to see you all there.

Interesting meeting to attend.
NO one told me the lunch, which was just out in the open, was for council members only :D :D :D

Over the years, 30 people max, are what attends that meeting.

Far from a disgrace, what that number indicates is that the majority of anglers are pleased with NJ's management of freshwater fisheries.

Betting that they are spending that valuable free time fishing.

I thought it a nice gesture to the biologists for showing up also.

i went to the meeting the other year to discuss the ridiculous trout regulations they were putting into place based on no science and after seeing that our opinion meant nothing to them and they were over powered by the fly fishermen i'm sorry but i wouldn't waste my time at another meeting, i have better things to do like go fishing haha.
