Passiac River 2018-09-03
 

I hit the Passiac river in my kayak on Monday in search of some big pike. I found pike but just not the big kind. I landed 8 with the largest being 18" and most around the 12" mark. I also landed a few largemouth bass which I did not expect to be in the river and a few nice size yellow perch.

The photos weren't any special so I sized them kind of small for faster load time. I only tried one video of a pike release, but the released itself before I started the video!!!

The water is still high so getting around with the kayak is super easy. I was a nice day on the river, besides the fishing we saw tons of ducks, egrets, herons, deer, muskrats, million turtles, etc. One huge 6 point buck which was bedded down under a tree right near the river bank. It just watched us drift on by and never moved.

What type of baits were you throwing, maybe reach out to some Passaic river regulars for more intel. Sounds like a nice day out. Watch those jaw bones on the bass.

Nice fish and action dude!!! Throw some bigger lures around and you’ll find big Pike!!!;)
