In Search of Wild NJ Trout Part II

Went out again on Sunday looking for more wild trout. I went to the same river but tried a different area. Water temp was a cool 62, crystal clear and a great flow.

Managed to land 7 rainbows and only 1 nice size brookie. Can't believe I have gotten into any browns.

Here are a few photos from the day.

Nice catching again, akoop.

Pheasant tails again? What size btw?

Odd to see no browns, but that's good news for the brookies. The proof is right there with that healthy adult brook trout :D

Mostly pheasant tails, but I did get a couple of bows on a Yellow Sally Stimulator (Size: 16).

The lack of browns has me confused because in the 2018 state fishing regs the state lists the section of the river I was fishing as "WILD BROWN TROUT ENHANCEMENT STREAM (Brown Trout dominant, other wild trout species may be present)"

Strange, id inform F&G. Might be important to distinguish it in the long run.

I e-mailed Fish & Wildlife and got a response thanking me for the info and stating that they would forward to the correct biologist.
