my son caught this guy on the delaware yesterday. we were up in the gap. at first i thought it was a rock bass but it did not have red eyes. second guess was a blackbanded sunfish but the bands were not very distinct. what are your thoughts

I've caught big walleye and had em' spitting those up. 5" variety...maybe bigger.

after a thorough internet search, looks to be a run of the mill rock bass, just not sure why the eyes were not red. maybe they get redder with age:confused:
