3-4oz jighead for 4 and 5 gulp mullet?
instead of using bucktails with gulp..i want to try just plain jigs with the 4 and 5 inch gulp mullet?
Can anyone suggest the best jighead to use in the 3-4oz size? TIA |

I use kalins for up to 1oz, i'd assume they make them bigger, but i've never looked. you could just cut the bucktail hairs off your favorite bucktail jigs i guess too.

Terminal Tackle has a bunch to choose from painted and unpainted. I would just experiment.

Egg sinker, mustad O'Shaughnessy 6/0 or 7/0, and a toothpick to pin the sinker. Works well, although i use 1-2 oz. and 6" gulp grubs.

For 4 and 5 inch mullet use a 4/0 and 5/0 baitholder hook, egg sinker and a toothpick to pin the sinker. Or use the 2oz bullet head jig and 6 inch grub, above that tie dropper loop and 4 and 5 inch mullet use a 4/0 and 5/0 baitholder hook. |

I use these, cheap and the barb holds the gulp on well, or at least better than a plain hook with the new, sponge like gulp

I use the higher quality jig heads, normally I’ll go with joebaggs or s&s or owner hooks bullet head jigs.. I use my jig heads for fluke, bass, blues, anything really and quality does pay, i noticed if your jigging really rough bottom they hold up a lot better when popping out of snags and also the hook point holds up well. Just my 2cents... also I only fish 5” in the ocean on the jig and use either a 4” on top of a snipped 6” grub to 4”. I crush them on this combo.
