Keyport Seahawk - Fluking, with seabass and a doormat
Headed out to try to get on the trigger fish bite, but got nothing except small seabass. we only gave it an hour and i think if we waited it would've turned on cause it looked like the boats around us had them after the early morning when we were there.
anyway we did some reef fluking and even though the drift was super fast most of the day with the storms rolling through with wind rain and lightning we bucktailed just feathering the jigs out as we went. Nailed another nice doormat sized fish feathering out a homemade stinky pinky bucktail and we had a handful of keepers but couldn't limit the boat. Plenty of short seabass with two nice keepers for each of us as bycatch. might have to spend a little more time on the trigger fish next weekend or try to time it better...not sure what turns them on but i can tell you they weren't biting at all early morning with an out going. https://s3.amazonaws.com/photos.fish...0b2c9ffc53_800 https://s3.amazonaws.com/photos.fish...0b2ca6fa06_800 https://s3.amazonaws.com/photos.fish...0b2caac76e_800 |

this one we kept, so we weighed it... it was just under 27" and just shy of 7 lbs (i was pretty surprised at how much it weighted i was guessing like 5.5 but it came up as 6lbs 12oz i think)
