Super Smallmouth from Raritan River
Started the day at one spot, nothing. Went to another, nothing.
I went to the third and final spot and threw an inline spinner in the stained water we had from last night's t-storms. Tossed it in some current and hook into a channel cat. https://i.imgur.com/sfxtyHx.jpg Fun fight, figured a cat is active in this stained water. A good catch to break the skunk I had going from yesturday. Picking up schmutz on my lure so switch to the ol texas rig with a zoom u-tale. Caught plenty of nice size bass on this lure last summer. Toss it out in a different run, not even as deep as the other. Something taps my line, I feel it in the rod, I set the hook and im on. Not sure what it is but it's definitely fighting less than that cat in the current. In fact it didnt feel like anything I ever had on. Was asking myself what it could be. Shortly as I bring it in, a monster is revealed! I thought it was a walleye at first due to size and color, but shortly I net a 19/20in inch smallmouth. Cant tell exactly due to the tape being sloppy. That's an update on my pb smallmouth, 17 to 19  https://i.imgur.com/yZ7tJvL.jpg |
