What type of waters are you looking to fish....rivers, bays, ocean....lakes ? I am partial to Hobies, but I mainly fish in the ocean....and that will be over your price range.......

I would look into a Wilderness Tarpon 120.......it's a great all around kayak and will be great for whatever you are looking to do.......Just my opinion...of course.

Hi Steve,

I have a hobie quest sit on top kayak fully rigged for fishing for sale. I think that it would be in your price range and I could give you a good deal on it. PM me or call me if you are interested.

I tried the tarpoon 120. Its fast but not comfy. Cant stand in it either (29 inches wide). My buddy is selling his if interested with a carbon paddle. More sports car than SUV. Have a feelfree lure10 and its advertised as light n stable...i beg to differ. The seat is very comfy but heavy. Its 34 wide but still not as stable to cast n fish standing up as ide like. I keep going back to my Old Town Predator. Love that thing so much i bought the 13ft version too. They are fishing specific machines. Love the predator!!
Look into the Brooklyn kayak co. too. They are generic knockoffs from china of the major brands.
My buddy has a pedal drive model from them thru amazon for $1400.
Cant beat that with a stick.
Vibes are a good bang for your buck too.
Good luck. Try craigs list too.

i have been considering the Vibe skipjack which would allow me to take the 1 or 2 of my children who like to fish with me , and still be able to use it solo.

a bit more than i would like to spend, but I get less grief from the missus when one of them goes with me - which surprisingly is my soon to be teen daughter. Optimally i 'd get 2 so the ife and oldest daughter can could go out and paddle around.

been offered a job within the company that gives a $500 credit towards health and fitness items that a kayak would qualify, so i am finally going to get something

That's awesome, the $500 is a nice chunk of cash.

Ramsey Outdoors is having their "Free Paddle Day" on May 26th. You can go test out a bunch of different kayaks to see what you like/don't like.
