Central Jersey for the day

Today I went down to South Brunswick to visit my friend and to go pond hopping. We went to 3 ponds, all of which I don't know the name of, but only ended up catching anything at the first one. Even though the numbers were low the quality was high! Caught my biggest bucketmouth of the year so far, a slab crappie, and my first ever (yes you read that right) chain pickerel. Great day on the water!

when my friend and i first started fishing about 10 years ago we discovered the species one by one and i can remember us trying over and over again all over lake hopatcong and other nearby places to try to catch our first chain pickerel...it took a disturbing amount of time and looking back it still baffles me haha

Nice LM bass. Catching your first chain pickerel is definitely a fun experience you'll always remember. I remember mine wasn't too long ago,it was probably only a year-year and a half old but was great to finally catch a species on my bucket list. Like Kcritch said now your gonna be catching them all the time, looking for the big one.
