1st "Eye" ...weight?

Went up to the sheds this Saturday in my second attempt at my first EYE. Got a bit of a late start as i wanted to be fishing before the sun came up. Was throwing a swim jig in the shallows (5-6ft) thinking they are in preSpawn or Spawn patterns and moving water like the feeder stream coves. No luck. Moved to 12-14ft right as the sun was cresting the treeline. Boom! Rod tip goes down and the fight is on. Fish had more weight behind her than fight. Too early n maybe too sluggish this early in the season. Felt like reeling in a sunken tree branch with the occasional tug. Saw the beauty and yelled for the net. After two missed swipes we got her in. First walleye ... check!! Another fish off the ol bucket list. In the excitement n chaos we didnt measure. Any guesses on lenght and weight? Im curious. Want to tell my buddies n brag a bit. Ha!!!
Caught on drop shot rig..2.5' smelt gulp minnow. Bout 13ft down... a foot leader on both sides of hook with 1/2oz weight..bouncing off bottom.

3 or 4 lbs?? Maybe? Hard to tell. Not sure how big you are in ration to the fish. The two pics look very different dimensionally

Don't know how big it is but it is surely a nice one. Congrats on your first. I never remember that drop shot rig. Thanks for the info on what worked.

congrats on your first walleye. that fish looks to be 3 to 3.5lbs. some of them will be putting the weight back on after they are spawned out. if they have a good supply of forage they will put on the pounds sooner. the fish that are not very dominate will have to struggle to put on the pounds. however that fish looks healthy.
