Opening day slaughter on the PO

Very light crowd for opening day, maybe a third of the normal crowd. It was snowing prior to the 8:00 am start and the water was fast and very cold, but the fish were chewing. I caught 15 rainbows in less than 2 hours with the biggest being over 3 lbs. The three of us caught over 40 with all fish being caught on gold #1 spinners.

Wow, catching 4 or 5 has always been a great day for me. I can't imagine catching 15. That's a heck of a day on the river.

wow is right, you must've found em stacked up in some slower water. I didn't see any water or fish like that in the stretch I fished in Mahwah.

Yeah, that's some haul! I hit the PO yesterday afternoon on a cul de sac in Oakland from 3-4:30. Managed one rainbow, lost another, also caught a huge sucker. Go figure. Like a dozen guys in waders show up as I'm leaving. Not enough stockies to go around in that spot I'm afraid. Yes, gold Panther Martin spinner.

The spot we fish has a deep hole down the middle of the river. We had to cast up river and let the spinner drop into the hole and then start reeling.
