Short PM Ramapo Report
 

Decided not to do the AM opening day thing but was tired of sitting around so I hit the Ramapo in Mahwah around 5, River is HIGH AND COLD. Fished for 2+ hours and only caught 3. (2 on spinner 1 on pink salmon egg) Broke in the new LL bean waders and Simms boots, stayed dry but it was COLD enough to have had enough after 2+ hours in waist deep water.

Looking forward to reduced flows and warmer days!

Thanx for checking in from the Slam-A-Po ! After getting back into fishing rivers and streams I'll take the high water any day.

I got two Saturday afternoon and one yesterday, all on spinners. The water was high and fast but pretty clear. Very few fisherman spotted, like four each day.

Was there Saturday morning. Went 1 for 2 on the Andy S special before moving to a smaller creek at 11am.

Water was way too high and fast to fish effectively. Light crowd compared to other opening days.

I had one of my fish for dinner last night. Sweet pink flesh, very tasty.
