Antigua
Wife decided that we're off to Antigua for a week in mid January. Uncertain about fishing, in part because of lack of knowledge (beyond doing some reading on the net). Any advice/recommendations would be welcome.

If looking to charter contact this guy derekbiel@ymail.com.
We fished nov. but was a great wahoo bite I would do it again. And most islands fishing isn’t great. Obsession sport fishing. |
Re: Antigua
I second Qman's recommendation. Good boat and captain.
He is on the south side of the island. English Harbour. At the time I went I chartered the entire boat - I am not sure if he offers Open Boat. We trolled Penn 9/0s with wire line for Wahoo. Caught five nice ones in the 30 to 35 lb class range. Ask your hotel or resort if they will cook your catch...and make sure you plan ahead (cooler with ice etc.). We trolled about eight miles or so offshore in 4' to 6' seas. The trade winds are always blowing down there...so make sure your crew can handle the seas. Joe T. |
Re: Antigua
Look for Nico P. On Facebook. He out of Falmouth harbor. He's an old friend of mine. Used to run 2 boats--daybreaker and goldfin. Visited him for a week a number of years ago. Fishing was absurd. Just dumb. I came home bruised and battered with a shit eatin grin on my face. We high speed jigged in like 900 plus ft of water and loaded up on Wahoo, king mackeral, blackfin tuna, cuda, mahi, and all sorts of snappers and mackeral down deep. I'm not sure if he's there now because he was running relief trips to the surrounding islands after this summer's flurry of hurricanes.
Do some research and try to find him. He's a bona fide fishing machine. Bring a med kit and Advil. And bug spray. Lol... |
