Spruce Run Muskie?

While fishing for Pike at Spruce Run I witnessed a guy catch and release a small muskie . I don't believe the State has stocked pure strain here ? I asked some of the regulars and some said they catch tiger muskies from time to time ! Bt the last stockings were years ago correct ? Anybody have any experience with muskies at the Run?

Never saw one. Or heard of one being caught there but theres a chance a fingerling ski could end up with the pike. I guess?

Are you 100% sure it was a ski and not just a pale patterned pike?

Don't believe the state ever stocked pure strain Muskie in spruce. They did stock tigers many years ago, but got no feed back and stopped. With pike stockings, Muskies my of been mixed in by accident, any large specimens may of been illegally stocked, like pike initially in Spruce. Would need pics to see what the fish really was.

I’ve heard they’re in there but there probably aren’t many. I know Budd has tigers.

They get mixed in at the hatchery every year. It happens all the time. Pretty cool if you ask me!
