Ice fishing

Hey guys went ice fishing Saturday in Roscoe NY on a private lake. I go yearly or more. My friend has a house right on the lake. I sht you not that people were ice fishing the lake across the way today. Anyway I had 5 inches of ice. When I go normally it’s 17-20 inches. We went out around 10 am there was a layer of slush. It rained all day but we touched it out, especially my son! We went in for a late lunch around two. After lunch my son goes out to check the bait. He gets out there and immediately noticed that the ice was thinner. He came right to me. I went out and we had lost an inch to an inch a half, not for nothing but at noon it was still 5. I called it. Not a 3 inch guy lol. But proud dad moment I wanted to share. He’s 14 and loves ice fishing. Great to see him learning and being responsible! Also, every time we go there we learn. Anyway stay safe! Only to fish one fatty perch and one small pickerel but a awesome time!
