Things that go bump in the night...and day!

too much good fishing, no time to sleep...

whacking feisty walleye at night and battling bulldog lakers in the day.

Before dark we had a little mixed bag action including a real nice fat 18" smallmouth bass that i nabbed on top water that 'butterfingers' Squatch dropped into the lake before i could take a pic of it :D:confused:. After dark, we didn't have insane action on the walleye, but we picked away at them 19-22". Still looking for one over 22" this year though.

Then didn't make it salt water fishing so with plenty of time to spare I combed the depths for lakers finding the most active ones in 35-55fow. They were pretty picky with the short striking but I converted 3 hefty ones to the net for a quick pic.

The surface water is getting warm so if you're targeting these lakers, keep the fight as quick as possible (without bringing them up super fast) and be quick with the pic if you plan on releasing them.

Very solid lakers! That's one of those fish I haven't caught yet, despite trying the Valley a few times..

Sounds like you went back to sleep in the afternoon, after a night and day marathon.
Making the most the weekend, keep it up!

Serves you right for feeding me fried chicken after midnight. :D

Interesting color pattern around the mouth of that first laker

Healthy looking fish. No need to worry about the lake trout, that place is infested with them. Many of us got together and started a letter writing campaign for them to stop stocking lake trout. Then just like that the whole lake trout stocking program went away (and replaced with land locked salmon). Maybe some day we will get the brown trout back again.
