major repairs

hi folks, starting to do the powertrain rebuild after striking a pos 2 miles out last year. need to do everything from the trans back, not too bad but a lot. I need shaft coupler, a shaft, a strut, a prop and the rudder seems salvagable with just a lil straightening. everything else is waffled. looking for someone to do or help do the work in the point area. seems like Buck Algonquin has everything I need and from a lil research it seems the best way to go. the only problem is they don't sell direct so if I could find someone that can order and help with the work that would be ideal. prop and shaft are out and the studs that hold the strut in place are loose so its not too far to go but I want to finish it off right being I plan on keeping this 1985 classic for a while. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just curious...what did you hit 2 miles out? "striking a pos"? Did ya take on water? My biggest fear!

yeah big pos 20 or 25 foot long piece of boardwalk or bulkheading. 2x10's and large pillings at both ends. someone was watching over me because it never really was above the surface and I hit it at 25 mph by myself. took on no water but everything under the hull was cooked. the only thing I had to show for it was my life luckily and a huge bruise in the shape of a steering wheel on my chest. 10 feet right 10 feet left who knows, cant worry about things you have no control over. real hard north current flushing out the Raritan, I was off Manasquan first week of fluke season, that was it for my year. good tax return this year and im going to be back in for summer:)

Wow! that is crazy! Lucky nothing got ripped completely off the hull or that would have sunk it quick.

Good luck with the rebuild. Take some pics, curious to see how it goes.
