Raritan Bronzeback Wolfpack M-F-G

Now that the heat has broken and the Fall's approaching is anyone interested in doing a meet-fish-greet get together at Duke Island Park for Bronzebacks? Thinking a half day event starting at first light til noon. Tape measure cell phone pic required, longest fish wins. $100.00 cash on me. ideas?

In bridgewater? Do u think shore, 'yak, or boat? Any combo?
Sounds like a decent idea- maybe a potluck food thing later?

Dad got sick, been taking care of him the past few years, no time to fish. He passed in February, taught me to fish, so I'm back with a vengeance in his honor. Feels like he's with me every time I go (wish he'd do something about the water level : - )

I think that sounds like a great idea. Pick a date and so long as the wife doesn't have plans for me already I am in.

How's Saturday 9/24 or Sunday 9/25? Meet at the end of Jaycee Road in Duke Island Park since it's close to the confluence and several other spots. Meet at six and fish til noon. I was thinking bank (no yaks or waders) and artificials only to even the playing field, thoughts?

The park doesn't open until 7, why don't we make it 7-1? It will still be dark at 6 anyway.

No go for me too. It's "Halloween" weekend at the campground my parents stay at, and now that my little girl is walking on her own we'll be trick-or-treating :D Wifey says she's still too little for a boat ride though

I'm seeing a lot of variety of fish in the pics from this place. Any forecast to what you guys think the longest fish might be? Or are you limiting it to smallies only?

Jigman13 09-15-2016 09:54 AM

Re: Raritan Bronzeback Wolfpack M-F-G

Bruisers all over the entire RARITAN River system... N branch, s branch and main stem. Ya just gotta find them. Harder now with water levels so low. Personally I've gotten smallies up to 21" on the river. Seen bigger too. Fewer this yr vs last year but they're in there.

Not sure if I can make this but will try. The whole daytime things throws me off lol.

How we looking for next weekend? Since this is a challenge NOT A TOURNAMENT I was even thinking everyone use the same lure (I'll
supply), thoughts?

Very cool idea, however depends on what you had in mind. I imagine it would be a soft platic. Otherwise any lost lures would mean an end of your day. Eveyone would need to know ahead of time to be able to bring proper hooks and such

True, scratch the one lure idea. Different presentations would also show what is most effective.

Re: Raritan Bronzeback Wolfpack M-F-G

i have a bass contest saturday so i can't come, but if you guys do a challenge, here's an idea...instead of having 1 winner, you can have 1 loser for last place in whatever the challenge is. the 1 loser gets punished by everyone else by having to do something embarrassing! HAHAHA.

and yes i got the idea from impractical jokers...love that show hahaha

I'll need to cut out early but if you are meeting at 6:30 I can swing by for a couple hours. Be good to see the gang for a bit. And I never catch anything out of that stretch so I'm no threat! :D

So was sat. Or Sunday decided on yet? I definitely can't Sat. but if it is Sunday I can probably join for a while. Seeing as I spent all last weekend in the poconos at a bachelor party even a few hours fishing this weekend might be a tough sell to the wife.

Level dropped again after it was up a touch earlier in the week. I also got a turkey skunking--3 trips in a row without a hook up. Gotta love the transition period!

I'll be there at 6:30, not sure if they lock the gates or not, if so park opens at 7:00.

Just got back from the River, looks good, RVR releases daily?

http://www.njwsa.org/data.htm

Confluence, Sellers, Head Dam, Robert St, Nevius, Peters Brook, Torpey, Ladder all close with good water (not to mention Hooters of Somerset)

Re: Raritan Bronzeback Wolfpack M-F-G

I have to be home by 10 on Sat., which would mean I could only fish until nine.....still tempting if people plan to get started at 6:30.....I am going to try and make it, but my wife has informed me that if I am not home by 10 (I am notorious for getting home later than planned whenever fishing is involved) then this is my last fishing excursion so I am going to need to make those two hours count!
