Electric Reel Recommendation

1 Attachment(s)
Looking for recs for an electric reel for my dad. He fishes deep water (400+ ft) in Washington and Canada for halibut. Hitting 70 years old in August and doesn't have the strength or stamina anymore. He caught a low 30's fish on Saturday and lost feeling in his hand during the reel up. Any direction, greatly appreciated.

Get in touch with Dave at the reel seat.

My older sister (she's 4'11" and has to lean into the wind to stay on her feet when it's blowing hard) lives in AK and uses a Daiwa Tanacom 750 for halibut. She's been very happy with it. She's pulled up 200+ lb fish with it.

Give some serious thought to the battery as well. Lithium batteries are the way to go being much lighter than lead acid. I use the Battery Tender BTL35A480C Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery on all my electric reels including the Shimano Beastmaster 9000. Rod selection is also important. Get one with a curved butt and he can put it in the rod holder instead of holding it all day.
