Bad weekend fishing report.
 

Saturday and Sunday from 7am to about 7pm both days, DEAD. Fished the ocean, Ambrose channel, Sandy hook channel, Chapel Hill channel, terminal channel , all in front of earl, the reach channel and the triangle! Both days! Had 3 people with me yesterday, 2 today, grand total of one keeper and maybe 10 shorts. Guess I need a boat big enough to drag 60 hooks to give a good report. I'm so intrigued with all the reports of great fishing yet I'm surrounded by everyone all day and I don't see any nets going! Stipers can't come soon enough!

Thursday was pretty good also. 5-1 on the keepers but we did pretty well with 6 for 4 people fishing.

We have been fishing a few different rigs of our boat but the only one to catch keepers is a jig or fluke rig main hook with a teaser. All have been on spearing tipped hooks and the colors are irradescent green and pink.

We had an awful day today as well...3 shorts for the 2 of us all day and no blues to save the day this time! We tried whites greens, pinks, yellows, and some custom stuff I had made up. We had squid all different gulp mullet and shrimps and snappers. Tried from the triangle to ammo to horseshoe and even the reef and all the go to spots in between...what a frustrating day!

I didn't fish at all. Took my 15 year old daughter and 7 friends for a swim at Sandy hook cove. No frustration. Hopefully things pick up soon.

Fished on sunday. Had to stay inside because of the NE winds. Sandy Hook bay was dead. Tried right near the tip of the hook and got a few shorts and sea robins. Tried by the ammo pier and got nothing. Then we tried another spot near the marina (because of the high winds) and got about 20 shorts. Zero keepers throughout the day. Fluking has really sucked this year. Can't wait for stripers and blackfish.

We had a pretty crappy day sunday too. i got one good bite , but couldnt set the hook .....that was about it all over the bay

I think it's a matter of choice of bait, tide and location. I think the fishing has been pretty good the last few weekends.

Way to go yesterday Dupes, looks like they are where we left them biting !!! Lets plan to hook up on my rig Saturday.

I didn't cut the hooks off my buck tails like someone I know. Though, even without the hooks you manage to catch fish while everyone else seems to struggle. :D

The boat I fished on this past Saturday had a steady pick of fish up to #6.15. Fished from the Triangle to mid bay.

Great pic dupes. I've been using bucktails, squid , gulp, live killies, spearing, live snappers. Just having a bad fluke year. This time last year I had keepers everyday and was eating fluke 3 times a week lol saved me money this year I'm striking out. I'm killing it on the snapper fishing off my boat at the marina though hahahaha unfortunately that doesn't count for much
