Night fishing Spruce advice needed

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas/advice for fishing Spruce from shore at night. Not looking for your super top secret spots, just a general idea of what to expect. You can reply here openly or PM. Had a buddy go out the other night at dusk and they killed it on the hybrids! Of course they were in a boat which I don't have the luxury of aside from my kayaks. (work injury currently prevents me rowing) Really want to try hooking up on some!

Any help is appreciated. And of course if anyone is in need of someone to go out on a boat with them, let me know! Willing to split fuel, bait etc. of course!

Thank you in advance!

The boat ramp is not lit up at all, unlike Round Valley. Made a bee line for the ramp on an angle and ended running my boat a ground. That's all I know.

Expect it to be dark.
Cast your bait into the water. When a fish eats it, reel it in.
You got this.

Kaaaaabooooooooosh!!!!!!! Best advice is: Gotta Put The Time IN!!!!! It's something that you need to commit to not just once or twice and expect to slam em'.
Fish one or two spots and set up a least two or three rods with diff baits to see what they want. You should always have a rod rigged with a topwater too in case they start bustin by you.

I just went last night for the 4th time to spruce run and again got the skunk 4th time in a row, but that still will not stop me from going there. All I went for was channel cats using chicken liver and worm, few hits on worm but probably something small.

That's the white perch Mike. Few weeks back I was soaking livers and was getting picked apart. Dropped the hook size down with a small piece of liver on it and sure enough, white perch. Also managed some small white cats and channels... No big girls yet. Prob get them trolling on the GetANet 2 in July, midday, 20 feet down in 35 feet of water LOL...

If fishing from shore - access is also a bit limited now. With the levels up and all the rains, tough to stay mobile and get on the fish. Most of the access points that I am aware of are shallower....

Lots of good info being shared...NJF as its finest. Nicely Done boys!

If I knew anything about the topic I'd add it here...but I don't...Sorry. I've only ever caught 3 hybrids at on Spruce at night. All on one trip long ago and I caught them on a 3/4 oz Krocodile spoon mostly by accident because I had no idea what I was doing and was just randomly casting as far as I could in the middle of nowhere in the dark and just reeling it back. I've never been able to repeat that so I wouldn't go spending much time trying it.....

So that's why I can't catch'em...I have been using a 1 oz. Kroc.... go figure:o

Hmm fishing Spruce at Night.

Let me see what I can contribute on the subject.

Helps to have multiple lines out with different bait. I am one of the few people that after I choose a spot I pretty much stick to it. If there is not bite in hour or two I still stick to the spot and 99% of the time patience pays off.

Best time to go would be after 9pm currently.

Magic hour lately been around 11pm.

There are some drop offs that you can reach from the shore if bottom fishing. You can locate them pretty easy by looking at maps and getting the feel for surrounding area.

As been mentioned since the rain last week, water level did go up. If you have waders, use them you will get access to more spots in different areas.

Medium and large live bait worked like magic for me for bass and pike.
Small bait worked fine on crappie.
Nightcrawlers worked on trout and catfish but I only got one trout so would not use that to target them.
Chicken livers worked like magic on both catfish, hybrids and white perch.

Best of luck to you.

Andre

If fishing for Hybrids, chicken liver fished on the bottom or live Herring fished either under slip bobbers or on the bottom will be your best choice from shore. As mentioned before, with shore fishing you got to put your time in and patience definitely pays off. I've been fishing Spruce almost every night for the past 4 weeks now, and the Hybrid action has been nothing short of amazing between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. Put your time in and you're bound to get into some nice ones.

I will finally soon have some time to stay out into the wee hours of the night when they start biting.
