Spruce Run Slugfest!!!
 

Been fishing Spruce Run pretty hard the past two weeks and been doing awesome. Pike, Largemouth, Smallmouth, Hybrids, and Channel Catfish have been real active. Here's some pictures from Friday and Saturday....

You guys certainly did better than I did this weekend. :D

It looks like the reservoir is about three feet away from being being full. Lets hope we get a lot of rain and they let it fill up the rest of the way.

Those Hybrids are so big, I think they may have come from Hopatcong haha :p.

But seriously, I've been following the pics on FB, it's got me drooling like a fiend! Very nice my friend!!

Nice fish dude. That smallie is pretty thick looking! Great lmbs too! The hybrid in that first pic looks gigantic! All on shiners??

The guys with the 20 inch flat screens just don't abvertise it, they know better. Just a pic of a hybrid invites lukers. There's only a couple places it can come from and with no houses on the shore we all know where. Trout, pike, large and small mouth can be caught 100s of places. Keep abbvertising the hybrid there and they'll be gone.

Hahahahahahahaha, I've worked 21 days in a row with very little time off. All I want is a 6 inch FF! I need to fish very very soon.

The Hybrids will be just fine, the state makes plenty! Although only a small percentage of the fry they stock will survive. Catch and release!!!!

much agreed !!!! I've talked to five guys this week, all lurkers that follow the boards religiously...One guy even told me that before he started following the message boards he was clueless as too how much quality fishing was in his backyard.....two of the five lurkers also admitted to keeping most of there DAILY catch,every specie. they told me , if we get caught the punishment is like a slap on the hand and they wont stop until freezers are completely full...:eek:

That really sucks.
That's just the way it is when you live in New Jersey.

Where there are gamefish, people will consume them. When there is an abundance of gamefish -either by the stocking efforts of Fish & Game or by pure serendipity, a certain percentage of anglers will plunder them until they're gone.

As New Jersey become even more over-crowded and the state's demographics change, I can see this state going to a pure stock-and-keep fishing model as few gamefish will live long enough to reproduce.

I don't know anything about conservation officers and park police, but I can see that law enforcement is infrequent at best. In all the years I've fished that area I've only had my license checked once.

Ummm...nice fish from anywhere! I don't recall too many photos of decent size fish from there - shore, yak, canoe, tube. Mostly I read complaints about how bad it is or how hard they are to find - my self included ;) Those are all beautiful fish. Well done.

That's sad.... Tell em salt water is much better eating, lol. :p How many fish you think are used to "fill up the freezer" that they don't even eat?!?!? Hope they at least use em for bait. Me, even the entrails from the trout I keep go to feed my turtle. Don't waste anything......

Spruce Run sucks..all my hybrids come from manasquan I barely waste my time there anymore....If you have to fish Round Valley is where its at
