Sun glasses

Just looking for some feedback on your recommendations on some good quality polarized sun glasses. Have had Maui's for years and either the temples or the bridge keep breaking. I have had them repaired too many times and @ $75.00 a repair I'm done. Thanks in advance for your advise

Costas.
See Jamie @ eyes on first, one of the site sponsors.
Most styles have plastic lenses but a few come in glass.
Spend the extra $ for the glass as they dont scratch as bad.

Yep - go see Jamie on First Avenue in Atlantic Highlands www.eyesonfirstave.com She will take good care of you. She has a big selection of Costas and other brands in stock. If she does not have exactly what you want she can order them for you.

I love my Costa Rx sunglasses! I have the Permit style with grey lenses

I recommend the plastic - less weight if you are wearing them all day long

Although heavier, I prefer glass. I think the glass has better optics. This is just my opinion.

I'll join the chorus and highly recommend Eyes on First. They literally have the widest selection of Costas in Jersey, and picking out a comfortable frame that actually fits your face is very, very important.

580Gs in blue mirror has served me well. I too think highly of Mauis, but the 580G Costas are just better on the water.

Costas for sure. Their customer service is awesome- I had a pair that started self-destructing after a year or two, they fixed 'em for me, no charge, no questions asked.

Wow! Thank you everyone for the kind words. I am overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and recommendations. :) Rubberhead -Looking forward to helping you find the perfect pair of Costa's. I have a huge selection. I try to keep all of the styles in stock and we will figure out which frame/lens color/lens material combination would work best for you and your needs. In addition they have a lifetime guarantee against manufacturer's defect, no other brand offers that. Most offer one or two years, and Costa really stands behind the warranty. Looking forward to meeting you!

I've read a lot of positives about costas. Here's my experience. I bought a pair of tuna alleys 3 seasons ago. The rubber lining that makes up the nose piece and runs under the lenses has slowly come undone( unglued). The rubber above my ears is starting to do the same thing. I bought them from eyes on first too (quality service) they have nothing to do with the actual construction of the glasses. Cheap Taiwanese manufacturing. I'm gong to search myself for new sunglasses as well. I put on a pair on new oakleys at a shop in Hoboken and they felt well constructed.

Did the Oakleys feel comfortable? I tried them on and had to take them off within 30 seconds. They look like they are made to fit a volley ball and not a human head.

Re: Sun glasses

They felt nice. The straight sides were nice as apposed to the traditional curve down & behind the ear. I felt like they fit tight but comfortable.....won't fall off into the drink while bending down over the gunwale. I don't wear a lanyard on my shades so I liked the tighter fit. Also.....The tuna alleys are not best fit for me as the curve bends before my ear.

Re: Sun glasses

I personally have been wearing Maui Jims sunglasses for twenty years. Never had one problem with them. My eye doctor will not carry any other brand.
I own every shade they make. Dark black lenses for the water and snow. Brown for cloudy days. I have the glasses with the 150 x's bi-focal on the bottom so I can read maps and see my knot tying better. I own six pairs and never had one problem with lenses coming loose, scratches, frames becoming crooked or warped from the hot sun. A great product with a great warranty.

Good luck with finding the pair that makes feel comfortable and happy. That's what it's all about.

Sorry to respond to this late, I have been out of my store for a few days. Sorry you had a problem with your Costa's. Costa will definitely replace those for you under their lifetime warranty against manufacturers defect. If you can drop them off or mail them to me I will take care of it for you. I also sell a lot of Oakley's and Maui Jim's. Based on my experience with a lot of different brands, Costa, Maui and Oakley are the top three. Please let me know if I can help with anything additional. You can also call me at the store if you have any questions.
