Bass Pro Shop, Sayreville ????

Does anyone know if they ever started construction of this store in Sayreville. Web site indicated it would open in 2015. Just curious....

Looks like they are a bit behind schedule but it is moving forward.

This was the former site of a lead company and I would bet the remidiation issues they are facing are going to slow things down a lot. Would not surprise me one bit if it never happens.

Hope that will motivate Cabelas to come back to Meadowlands or elsewhere in NJ. Much better store in my opinion! Especially for ice fishing.

I was in Atlantic City this past weekend and the whole structure is up and most of the outside is done. I am not sure when it will be done, but it looks close. An easy 5 minute walk from the center of the boardwalk that will keep me away from the tables........for a short time....anyway !! LOL

I go to the one in Maryland. No real bargains but cool for kids to walk through.

If the miracle does ever happen you know I will be there every day!!!LOL
Spendin every dime I got!!!!

MoM and Pop tackle stores are pretty much a thing of the past except for a few and most in my area are strong with salt stuff and not much freshwater.

Dicks is really starting to get generic and lousy as well they are almost crappy as Walmart around here....

Don't understand.......I go to Walmart down South and they are like a mini version of Cabela's LOL But Up North they have the same generic crap that sits on the shelfs for years and then they stop all together because of lack of sales.
I don't know who is in charge of their ordering but they SUCK!!!!

Basspro caters mostly to bass fisherman and some saltwater. Most lures are commercials! Catering to what sells to the fisherman vs what works for fish. Almost no clearance sales on more desirable stuff like Lucky Craft among others. Cabelas is a bit more diversified. But there is a definite disconnect in marketing zones. Hope their sales staff visits this Blog and asks our opinions

BassPro Atlantic City is holding a job fair next Tuesday for their targeted opening in April.

i like bass pro shop brand stuff over cabela's for almost everything if you go that route, except the cabela's depth master when it goes on sale (often) for 30 bucks you just can't beat that for freshwater trolling.

the dick's in rockaway is just terrible...for years they've had some kind of idiot in charge of inventory for the fishing department...they don't get enough of a certain product, sell out, and don't re stock it for months at a time...and it happens every year with the same products...wow...how does this person have a job...

IMHO we need to support our local shops... You spend money there it stays in our local ecomomy where it does the most good. And, we need these businesses to stay in business for the things we cant get at the national big box stores.

When is the last time you were able to get bait from a big box store at 5AM ?

Can't agree with you more. Keep it local. Paying a couple more pennies (if at all) is well worth being able to get live bait and lake information.

For the North Jersey guys, Cabelas is planning to build in Monroe NY (By woodbury commons outlet stores). It'll be a quick trip up the NYS thruway to get there on a weekend, just an FYI

Both major chains mentioned are now building smaller store. Bps opened a store in Utica ny that I find very disappointing. The days of the flagship stores are over.

Agree to a point. The big national stores employ a lot of local people and contribute taxes and comerce to local economies.
