Show us your ride
I've seen glimpses of some nice looking boats in the fishing photos here. Let's see the whole thing. Who knows, maybe we'll recognize each other one day out on the water. I posted here because I'm not interested in seeing ocean going fishing boats that the many of the saltwater guys would probably have, not that I'm jealous or anything ;)

Re: Show us your ride
A small aluminum rowboat is one of my favorite rides, I use my dad's Mirro Craft from the 70's with a 9hp and trolling motor. I have access to a larger bass style boat, a kayak and the rowboat, and hands down I pick the rowboat for freshwater lakes and ponds. Kayak is nice for rivers and Deep V for saltwater/rough water.
I'd pick your boat over any bass boat any day. |

I picked up this Native Redfish 10 at the Kayak Fishing Store last summer. Not a bad fishing kayak. I am confounded on how I can mount a fish finder on it, though.... http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps2ef7e72b.jpg |

Re: Show us your ride
My Old Town Twin Heron Angler. Had to get the tandem as the kids love to go out! The awesome part about this model is whether I go alone or with someone else, it tracks and handles the same! You can find me mostly floating along in the D&R Canal but I am ready to venture to SR for some Pike and RV for a Laker!
The fish finder was a recent addition and was installed using PVC and a Scotty mount. I power it with a homemade battery box with 8 AA batteries. Easily removable and it cost me a fraction of the price of some of the expensive mounting options out there! Next project will be a crate. See ya out there! http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/...psa8c0bfd3.jpg http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6009a405.jpg http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4daec0ff.jpg http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/...psd7e0246c.jpg |
Re: Show us your ride
Wow. I love that fishfinder/transducer mount. Looks very handy. This may go on my to do list! Perhaps a small plastic fairing to let weeds slide by the transducer? Some nice rides on this thread already, I'll have to dig up some shots of mine!

1976 Starcraft Kingfisher. Bought it for $350! It had a tree growing out of the center and had been left outside for at least 10 years with no cover. Complete rebuild in every way. Took about a year of heading out to the garage after kids went to bed to finish it. It has been a great boat and should last enough to pass it on to my kids.

Re: Show us your ride
I wish I had taken a photo when I picked it up with the tree growing out of the floor. I started cleaning it and then took the first photo. Took it down to the bare hull and started with blank canvass.

My new ride I picked up off of craigslist about a month ago. Native slayer 14.5, by far the most comfortable kayak I've ever sat in. Stable enough to stand and comfortable enough to sit all day

2015 ocean Kayak Big Game 2. Love this thing, it's a fishing machine. Just need to install the LED lights for night fishing, blue tooth speaker for sound, and a down rigger. Super stability and very comfortable. Best thing I've purchased in years. |

I fish out of this with my dad! Last year was our first year on it, so we had to learn the ropes. We also have a Ocean Kayak Malibu XL that we modified so we can fish on rivers.

Well, here's MY RIDE!
It's a 1979 Starcraft 14ft. The propulsion is a 1983 Evinrude 9.9 and a Minkota Eundura 40lb Thrust Trolling Motor. This boat has been in my family since the 1980's. It has gone thru several transitions over the years. At first it was a hunting boat painted duch boat brown and had chicken wire screwed around the entire boat and was hand weaved with marshweeds. It was like a floating Duckblind. It was pretty cool looking and the FED's always harassed us because the reg numbers were always hidden! LOL Wish I had some pic's of it to show but no can do. The boat then sat in the backyard for many years as we had a 21ft Hydrasport center console and a 16ft Grumman Deep V which we saltwater fished in for ever. Eventually I regained my interest in freshwater and decided to use the 14ft'er So in order to bring it back to life I re rigged it and gave it a fresh coat of paint and the transformation began. It has taken me a huge portion of my years fishing in it too finally have it set up to fish effortlessly whether I am solo or with some one. I can do just about everything I want to do. It is set up with everything in it's place and this way when ever you need the net or pliers or whatever it's always in the same spot Being the boat is only 14ft open space is maximized by using the dry box and tool box to store all my accessories such as rod holders planer boards airators spare battery ect. Everything I need is at a hands reach including my tackle box. Clears up all the clutter and keeps things neat and tight. I am set up to fish up to eight rods with another angler but usually only run four by myself. I continually am making things better or more organized all the time! I have a few winter projects that I am working on such as building a storage compartment inthe middle bench and also buiding a baitwell to replace the cooler with. I have back ups or spares for everything on the boat and that has saved a fishing trip on many occasions. She's kinda beat up and leaks some but it's a fine tuned fishing machine!!!! Enjoy. |

Re: Show us your ride
Currently I got 2 boats....the first is an old 14' aluminum sea nymph, propelled by a 5hp Johnson and a 55lb thrust minkota troller motor. It's ugly, but it floats.
My new boat (inherited from my folks, they're still with us, but can't fish anymore due to my father's health) is a 21' 1985 Bayliner 2160 Trophy Hardtop. Brought east from Michigan this spring and been moving back and forth from Lake Hopatcong and Raritan Bay/Sandy Hook, depending on what kind of fishing I'm in the mood for. Dad was big into Salmon and Walleye fishing on the Great Lakes, so I'm fully setup with 4 downriggers, a couple sets of big planers and the planer reels. http://i475.photobucket.com/albums/r...nator/boat.jpg |

Bumping an old thread! Here's my Dirty Hooker... I spent the better part of the spring and into the summer last year restoring this boat after I bought it. It may not look like much but it's come a long long way. Had it stripped down to complete bare metal and filled every leak on it, then repainted and rebuilt everything. I'll try an find some rebuild pics too.

Here's the before rebuild pics... All I can say is thank god for G/Flex marine epoxy cuz she had some leaks when I got her. My buddies and I sealed EVERY SINGLE rivet and seam on the bottom side of the boat after stripping it down to bare metal. The floor was also replaced as it was rotted. I built framing on the back where I've now mounted the downriggers. The biggest thing was having friends who are good with electrical to help me wire this thing and all the batteries. It sure isn't as nice as a new boat but it beats having a payment right now.

Here's the before, during, and after of my creation.
I do have a 50 Hp Mercury that is still in pieces for it. But the 9.9 is getting me by until I get around to it. |
