Marine Plywood Source
Does anybody know of a place that sells marine grade plywood in northern NJ?
Or better yet does anybody have any scrap, marine grade plywood in good condition that they are looking to get rid of? I have to replace the transom on my boat and I only need a 1 1/2" x 12" x 54" piece and hate to buy an entire sheet for such a small piece. |
Re: Marine Plywood Source
Just picked a sheet of it two weeks ago got it from http://www.usmahogany.com

Re: Marine Plywood Source
Thanks. I was hoping for a place a bit closer to home or work, but I'll make the drive if there is no place else.
Anyone know of sources in Morris, Bergen, Passaic or eastern Sussex counties? |
Re: Marine Plywood Source

Re: Marine Plywood Source
Do they actually make 1 1/2" plywood- that's crazy, can you just double
Up 3/4" cca provided at your local orange or blue store??? I've never seen a sheet nor want to lift an inch and a half marine grade, there is a dimensional lumber place I know of in carteret area off Blair road past the old Charlie's angels gogo to the east of it, if I'm right, they are called R-Z ,not the roofing distributor but a dimensional lumber company with the same sort of name, they're near that insurance auto auction place a lil more east... Good luck with that!! I think they have another name though , if I think of it, I'll post up... |

Atlantic Plywood in Carlstadt
As for using pressure treated ply????? I never do as there are voids in pressure treated ply and the marine grade is solid throughout, they also use better adhesive to bond the plys together |

My transom was replaced just before I bought the boat last spring, but the guy used oak. It split along the grain half way through the summer and kept getting worse as the year wore on. I'm afraid of having the same issue if I don't use plywood |
Re: Marine Plywood Source
Thanks for the input. Also, for anyone's future reference I found the following
Jaeger Lumber 133 Main St. Madison 973-377-1000 Mendham Plywood 96 E. Main St Mendham at rear of Village Shopping Center 973-543-7762 Kamco Supply 845 E 25th Street Paterson 973-247-1234 |
Re: Marine Plywood Source
I called around and got the scoop on some of the places mentioned so for future reference for anyone in north Jersey looking for marine plywood:
Atlantic Plywood in Carlstadt has marine grade only deals in wholesale. Jaeger Lumber in Mendham had marine grade but only in 1/2". They can order whatever you need. They receive deliveries every Wed. Kamco Supply in Paterson doesn't keep marine grade in stock but can order it for you. Takes about a week. Mendham Plywood had marine grade in 1/4" 3/8" 1/2" and 3/4" in stock. That is where I ended up going. |
Re: Marine Plywood Source
Sorry about Atlantic.... I didn't know they only did wholesale.
