Re: Sinker holder?
i have busted soooo many trays and now just throw them all in a cloth bag. Its about a half gallon size and probably cotton.

Re: Sinker holder?
Bigger bucket:D

Re: Sinker holder?
Meet me at the dock on Sunday, you can store them in my bucket:D
|
Re: Sinker holder?
Empty pretzel box.
|
Re: Sinker holder?
Throw them all overboard when you get to the sticky stuff. That's where they'll end up anyway. :D

Re: Sinker holder?
I thought Tats carried you lead?
I just use one of those bags that I got when I renewed my SWS subscription. Put the lead in that and put that in my tackle bag. That way I can pull the bag out, and leave it home, when I'm fishing on a boat that supplies lead. |
Re: Sinker holder?

Small burlap bag/money bag or I am copying what I saw some people do by tying them on clothesline..then use a plastic coffee can with handle(doubles for crab holder).....keeps them organized at least..

Re: Sinker holder?
This past year I started using a Cabela's plastic ammo can for sinkers and general tacklebox and it's worked pretty good. Even has a rubber gasket and is pretty much waterproof. And large enough to store smaller flat Plano boxes for Ava's, bucktails, etc.

Re: Sinker holder?
I converted to a good old 5gallon bucket. throw a handful of different size sinkers and a cpl spools of line, and a bag of pre tied snells. simple fishing, simple storage. dont overthink it. I put one bucket inside the other and theres my blackfish/philly mountain trout tank. I should.mention these buckets have lids with a rubber gasket to keep out water, and I can say I have never been out and found myself lamenting about what container my sinkers are in:D

Re: Sinker holder?
5 gallon bucket with lid. Don't party boat fish that often but when I do everything fits in it makes a great carry on and if you have a good lid it's waterproof

How'bout one of these.

Re: Sinker holder?
I second what shark said we use bank bags, they are free from any bank and hold a lot of lead. If keeping it on the boat watch the zipper as the salt water will rust it out very quick but you just go back and get another!!

Re: Sinker holder?
You can also use Gerry's ugly hat the pomp pomp will cushion the bottom so it can softly hit the deck :D I like buckets

Re: Sinker holder?
Put them in the same thing you keep your beer in? A bag.

Re: Sinker holder?
Get a 3 gallon chlorine bucket usually has a screw on/off lid, prbly go to any pool supply place see if they have any empties. I get the empties from my daughter they have a pool if ya cant get the 3 gallon size get a 5 gallon . The 3 gallon fits under the PB bench. Then go to lowes get the yellow stackable trays that fit a bucket they cost 3$ each.

Re: Sinker holder?
I just put my sinkers in old plastic coffee container, then throw that in the tackle bag or bucket I am bringing

Re: Sinker holder?
I use the cloth bags cashews or pistachios come in they have a pull cord, strong and separate the diff. sizes depending on how many bags you have. Besides they don't roll or rust.

Re: Sinker holder?
Assorted lead in a plastic coffee container with a handle works for me while party boat fishing. On my boat, I keep them sorted by size in plastic mayonnaise or peanut butter jars, with the weight number on the lid for easy identification. One is also filled with weighted trebles for those bunker snagging days, keeps the hooks from sticking everything.

Re: Sinker holder?
Second the pool bucket, I use a three gallon with a screw on lid, can leave it on deck in any sea. I would caution agains a chlorine one as any residual will rust out your stuff in no time, I use an alkalinity one that sat empty outside for a few months. I used to use the one with the snap off lid but I like the screw off ones better.
Inside the bucket I use a second smaller bucket I got from somewhere, it is square in shape. This leaves room around the outside of it for plyers, hooks, mono, and some jigs. While we are on the subject of carrying fishing stuff I also want to say I hate it when people load up the seating with duffle bags and other stuff. I can carry enough for most every trip in the bucket, add a small cooler for lunch and a big wheeled cooler for fish and I am set. So many guys change into their fishing gear in the cabin and it is probably why there are so many bags in there. Why not do it at the car when boarding and leave the benches and tables free for their intended use? I understand if there is a chance of rain having an extr bag or if it's an overnight trip but inshore trips? Maybe it is just me who thinks it's such overkill? |

I think I'll switch to the plastic coffee container w/ assorted weights. Thanks. |
Re: Sinker holder?
I have used a mini canvas tote bag made by LL Bean for over 25 years to carry my sinkers for togging and fluking and over time I have been told by many other fishers how neat and useful it appears for that purpose. It may be a little pricey for some to acquire initially, but considering how long I have used it ((still in great shape yet) it has served me well! Has handles to carry,is impervious to salt water, doesn't slide around, mar or damage boat finish.

Re: Sinker holder?
plastic laundry detergent or softener container. They come in all sorts of sizes. Heavy plastic with a big handle. Just cut the mouth larger to get the lead in.
|
Re: Sinker holder?
Small soft 6 or 8 pack cooler..Holds a lot of sinkers plus a few rigs and maybe even a few cans of your favorite brew. After you lose all the sinkers and rigs and drink the brew it doubles as a cooler for the filets from your one blackfish you caught:D

Re: Sinker holder?
Purple Crown Royal bags with the size written on the bags. Bags in a five gallon bucket. The only tackle box you need.
|
Re: Sinker holder?
Where can you find 8 pack coolers?. Thats a 33% increase in my beer load! Definitely interested in that!
