21" pickerel on 2 lb test line
Yesterday I caught a 21" pickerel with a 1/32 oz jig on 2 lb test line in Carnegie Lake. Another fishermen took my picture with his cell phone camera, then sent it to my cell phone. It was too big too attach to this thread so I'll try a link instead: http://www.myspace.com/my/photos/myphoto/59790787/Album. I got very lucky with pickerel on 1/32 oz jigs and 2 lb test line this year, landing 19.5" and 18.5 " fish in the Millstone River and the 21" in Carnegie Lake. Didn't get chopped yet.

Used to fish for them with 4lb test all the time and was never cut off. Even when they swallowed something, the line seemed to stay right between their teeth. Only broke off a few big fish at my feet because I always forgot the net and sometimes they would squirm out of my hand.

Re: 21" pickerel on 2 lb test line
Totally understand both points of view...I didn't think he was specifically
targeting pike with a 1/32 oz. jig...just happened to catch a few...but if he was with 2lb. test , it is a little iresponsible.... Everyone seems very quick to bash each other in somewhat harsh ways... Its up to the site moderators to keep an eye on this and squash it in a timely matter before the bashing gets out of hand.... Everyone also seems very quick to ASS-U-ME what the other guy meant... and we all know what assuming does...^;) |
