Raritan river/ D&R canal South Bound Brook area

From dark till whenever the bugs chase us out. :D

Oh, and my vote is the D & R near you Andy. I know that it might be tough to line up a bunch of spots on the shore, but hoping you know somewhere that will work. I know they're are some bruisers in there, so I'll go catch some bluegills (or crappie:) )from Lake Nomahegan before I come.

I could be IN depending on the details and family xtras beyond my control. Suggest that the area (not sure exactly where, I live off Easton Ave ext 10 287) be Chummed the night before or the morning of to bring the query closer to the scene of the crime. Want more than one or two hook-ups. Cut bait is always :cool: chicken livers/"aged shrimp"...priceless

Would also prefer to fish the river again this year over the canal, but will go with where ever the majority decides....at least in the river you can keep what you catch...not sure eating anything out of the canal is such a good idea....just my thoughts

I haven't fished either in a very long time, so not trying to argue or anything... I just wanted to know what your thoughts were and if there was something I should keep in mind when I do fish down there later this year.

Water quality!!!! I would never eat anything that came out of that canal...just my opinion...I'm sure that the reg.s are identical. Just think that the river is a cleaner body of water.

2nd lock in South Bound Brook, there is a water company house and parking lot, we will meet there. Not the lower lock on the canal, the lock going towards Zarepath.

My bad. I was thinking this was going down Friday. I have to go to a wedding on Saturday. I was pretty stoked for this, think I might see if Chris still wants to hang and see if we can't catch us some kitties on Friday. I'll leave a few for you guys. Andy, gimme a ring this week.

The Raritan was flowing pretty good and I don't think anyone was ready to start fishing 2 and 3 oz. sinkers to hold bottom, the canal is always a good plan B.

I learned: always bring a folding chair when catfishing, after all it is bait and wait, stink bait doesn't always work, but I truly believe in the stuff.

Bugs weren't that bad at all. I had a great time, even a cameo by catfishonthelake and company.

It was a good night out, great group of guys. Lard had the magic CHICKEN LIVERS last night. Lard is the pool winner and catfizzzzzz king for last night. Hitting the BIG D this week as long as its fishable, looking for fish in the 10 lb class, enough is enough!!!:D

The catching was real slow for me last night got 2 midget Yellow Bullheads.
The fishing however was real good. Great weather, good company, no bugs and beer:D
Lard and ChrisJC had the hot hand. Hey Ed where's the picture?

Great to see everyone last night. Fishing was decent but the company was better (the beer helped :p ). Glad I was able to hang into some big catties, especially since I really had no idea what I was doing.

Off to Shoprite to pick up a palette of chicken livers! :D

It was nice meeting you guys, wish that I coulda fished. Maybe next time. I know there will be plenty of catfishing in my future, maybe even tonight. I snapped a pic of one of Chris_JC's channels while I was there, I'll put it up when I get a minute.

Yeah a good night out...sorry I was so late and definitly got out fished by chickens livers...lol....sometime your the bug sometimes your the windshield...
