Mahi Fishing Tomorrow
And I'm more excited then a puppy with 2 peters!
I was on the fence about going with the heat and not so great water quality shots but I went to a site I frequent, saw a report and took a chance and sent the guy a PM... Turns out he frequents our site, recognized my name and gave me some great intel which was enough to push me over the edge. Thanks for that Robert! Going to bring some trolling gear just in case but the plan is to pot hop. Full report to follow and hopefully some Mahi  Eat your heart out JMurr :D |
Re: Mahi Fishing Tomorrow
Doing the same Big Z. Gonna get a late start tho. Wind/weather look good.

Re: Mahi Fishing Tomorrow
Bring the live killies. It’s the only thing which turns them on when they won’t take the chunks.
|
Re: Mahi Fishing Tomorrow
They'll always eat chunks of ballyhoo. I'd also fill the live well w peanuts if you can get them. And some spots or smaller croaker.

Re: Mahi Fishing Tomorrow
Sorry Gerry. Never made it midshore. On staycation and was a victim of fire pit and Makers Mark yesterday. :D
Did some Fluking and fighting off the pork chops eating all the gulp tails. |
Re: Mahi Fishing Tomorrow
You didn’t miss much Duff… 2 chicken Mahi, 1 Albie, a splitting headache from the heat and limited out on flies. Man they were brutal, hard to work the poles and swat flies and if you weren’t constantly swatting, you got bloody ankles.
All pot hopping, no trolling and ran as far south and the southern end of the Monster. |
Re: Mahi Fishing Tomorrow

Not sure why they were all the way out there but after we ran and stopped to get away from them, I looked over the side of the boat and they were sill clinging the hull, those little Bastards! |
Re: Mahi Fishing Tomorrow
Did you bring the magic levitating rod.

Re: Mahi Fishing Tomorrow
The west wind tends to push them SOB's offshore even though it's a far way unless they live on some structure out there like a buoy. I remember years ago we would fish the Ambrose tower for blues and it was like a hotel for them. That's why I just wear long pants and shirts out there. And fishing with bait instead of just gulp attacks them like......flies! :D
