Put in some work

Been hittin the river lately, mostly targeting bass and panfish with my popper. Been getting a few on it but still no giants. Put some work into our newly renovated spot and it just keeps getting better & cleaner. Was able to haul out 5 truck tires and a dollie, amongst other miscellaneous things ppl throw in the river. Turned in a pack of 45 bullets to the authorities as well. Got my eyes on some heavy stuff but will need to build a wench/pully system to get it out alone, we'll see. As for the fish, they showed up too. Been getting a little bit of everything down here regardless of size. I've actually been having a blast with the smaller ones on the top! But the big ones come and go as well. The longest of these guys taped out at 39" and the meaty one at 37".

Esox....great pics! Beautiful pike. Even better the effort you put in keeping the environment clean. The more people who care increases our odds against the people who unfortunately don't.

Keep it up my friend.....great stuff.

Great fish and a big thanks for your hard work cleaning up the river. If more people acted like you, NJ would be a better place.

Awesome Pike. Wish everyone would carry out a little more trash every time they fish.

Beautiful fish you caught there. And thank you for cleaning up. One of the spots my son and I visited the other day- someone demolished an entire kitchen and dumped everything along the bank. Not to mention tires, miscellaneous junk. People have no shame. Kudos to you for stepping up and doing something about it.

Curious, was that on the Saddle River or up in Fairfield at the confluence? I've been in contact with the board of health & they will/have actually take prompt action.

It'll slow up a bit in the late dog days but when they don't bite, the stripers show up to keep you busy. I was pike fishing in the hood the other day and taught a couple kids from the projects how to properly handle esox, especially during these summer months and they were pretty eager & enthused to learn. Gave one a lucky lure in the past but he said he lost it. Still pretty cool though!
