My best SM this season.

With rain tomorrow,we got out for a few hours this afternoon. Water temp was 43 to 44 degrees, I was jigging a blade vertically, though I was snagged but with pressure it was coming up slowly. I then saw a big smallie roll and splash on the surface. I guess it didn't like the looks of the net, sounded a few times and eventually splashed it way into the net. It was a heavy fish that was 20" long with a comparable girth. The picture doesn't do justice because by trying to keep the fish straight I wound up pulling the tail towards me trying to control it's bending. For picture reference, I'm 6'5".

Good chit brother!! That's a fatty bruiser right there! I notice with the colder temps the bass always seem to do that rigor mortis thing with their tails. Love it when you realize it's a fish and not a snag, gets pretty exciting! Great catch!!!

Thought I'd add a report, somewhat lackluster as far as catching but great weather and scenery in the shadows of the foot hills of the Berkshires. I've fished here as a kid on vacation back in the 50's.Thanksgiving time has been an annual trip for me since the late 60's and this time we had the lake to ourselves. We fished from about 12 to 4 Monday and Tuesday with water temps of 42 to 43 degrees and the rainbow trout (12 to 14") were active and one BT. Most of the action came from YP but only a couple of bass, I did take a better half SM shot.
1st - Some snow on the mountains from Sunday
2nd - sunset
3rd - sunset only minutes later
4th - a blade SM
